MY TOP 10 TIPS:
1. Apply for the Disney Visa card, you get notifications of upcoming deals first, you are earning Disney dollars for all your purchases, you get park perks and discounts. Referring friends can earn you an extra $25.
2. Get informed: Sign up for e-mail specials from Mouse Savers Newsletter, check other web sites like the PassPorter, Disney Moms Panel, join Twitter and follow other Disney fans, and my favorite, listen to the DisUnPlugged podcast. I highly recommend purchasing The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger & Passporters Guide by Jennifer & Dave Marx.
3. Planing your trip before you leave will help and it's FUN, advance dining reservations have changed back to 180 days, so you'll have to know what park you'll be going to and what you want to eat 6 months in advance, not easy. Know the park hours before you go, example, Magic Kingdom may close early for a special party.
4. Pack wisely, you will be walking A LOT (4-5miles a day) bring broken in comfortable walking shoes. Buying ponchos at home will save you money.
5. Send yourself a package, buy water and snacks from Staples (free shipping over $50). Buying water in the parks will cost you about $2.00 per bottle. There are other services like Garden Grocer, a grocery delivery service, to take advantage of.
6. Take full advantage of Disney's FREE transportation. Take the "Magical Express" from the airport to your hotel and back again. Then the buses, monorail and boats from your hotel to almost any place on Disney property. It is reliable and relaxing!!
7. When traveling with kids, let them have a set amount of spending money. Disney gift shops are almost as exciting as the rides so be careful!!
8. If staying on Disney property use the extra magic hours, where they are open to Disney resorts guests one hour in the morning and up to 3 hours in the evening at select parks.
9. Get in the mood, listen to Disney park music on Live 365, watch Disney movies and play Disney trivia games to start the magic before you leave.
10. It's your vacation, don't let any delay, weather or disappointment get you down. You've saved and planned for a while, enjoy the trip and let the magic take you away.
